Aragon are famous for making big watches and the Concept S is no exception. with a big and bold dial size of 40mm - a whole 10mm larger than the average men's watch - this is not for the faint hearted or slender wrist.
That doesn't belie the outstanding build quality you get from an Aragon watch. They ate built like the proverbial tank, and you can feel it too.
While most microbrands seem to be trying to extract as much money as possible from you, Aragon have gone the opposite way, constantly providing outstanding value that you simply will not see anywhere else.
Design and Aesthetics
The Concept S boasts a solid stainless steel case that is both durable and stylish. The big 50mm dial means that the textured dial, which Aragon call their "crater texture dial", really stands out - if the watch doesn't stand out enough already!
The thick, silicon rubber strap is equally as solid, and suits the watch perfectly. A stainless steel bracelet can be fitted as the straps are interchangeable, but there's a limit to how much weight your wrist can comfortably handle! Another reminder that this is a big watch, with a 17mm thick casing.
Movement and Functionality
There is plenty of substance to go with the standout styling. The Japanese Seiko-powered NH35 24-jewel self-winding automatic movement is known for being rugged and reliable so is perfect for the Concept S. That means you get a smooth, sweep second hand with large minute and hour hands, backed up by equally large hour markers on the dial.
This provides you with excellent legibility day or night with green luminosity on those hands and hour markers, and blue lume on the rotating bezel for a unique look after dark.
The dial is protected by K1 crystal. DIY Watch Club describe this as "K1 crystal is heat treated mineral glass which is more scratch resistant than normal mineral glass, and has better shatter resistance than sapphire crystal". The back panel also features a see through glass.
The cross-cut pattern on the screw-down crown is designed to be easy to grip, and helps provide the watch with 200m (660ft) of water resistance.
Durability
What more can we say? You won't find a more solid watch at this price or even close to it. You can spend ten times the price and still come up short. We're not sure how Aragon do it for the money but we're glad they do. These are not available from any other UK retailer, so buying from us means no import taxes or international shipping fees to pay.
